I grew up the son of poets. I am a poet myself.

So my love for broadsides should be a given. A cross between a poster and a piece of art, the broadside combines poetry, handset press work and visual art.

Below you'll find my first attempt at making a collage broadside. The poem is by my mom, Marie Harris. The images (including the poem itself) come from a book on public art in the state of New Hampshire. During her stint as poet laureate of New Hampshire, Harris collaborated with a sculptor to create a sculpture/poem hybrid.

I wanted to feature this unique piece of art at the same time honoring my mother and her life. The images are all from photographs of NH, a state she has lived in since the early 70s.
