My favorite part of all this is how the blog creates itself vertically, bottom to top but is read by the viewer top to bottom, who thus receives the storyline backward. You must skip all the way to the back room of the blog archive to begin where the blogger did, or you can climb down the ladder, blind, rung by rung.
The below collage, "Mixed Emotion," was made two months after the police seal collage. Ali and I had returned to the city to clean out my father's apartment, and I had taken one of my father's random postcards off his bulletin board (a b&w photo of roses) and added a few ripped and cut out pieces from a book I'd found at the back of one of his many bookshelves. The book was Danny Lyon's
The Destruction of Lower Manhattan.
