Below, a recent collage--the first in a triptych. My friend Billy found a set of small place mats with pastoral scenes on the front (green felt on the back). He thought I might like them for making collages. I decided to make them for Billy (and his wife, Jenny), using images I thought might resonate for them. I used an old comic book from the 70s, old letters and envelopes from the 60s and random images from old magazines. I brushed matt acrylic over the tops to keep the cut pieces down and to give the whole image a certain gauzy feel.
